Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, leader of Ghana’s New Patriotic Party, warned that winning the 2028 election will not be easy. Speaking after the party’s national executive elections, Bawumia emphasized the importance of unity and mobilization within the party. He stated that new leadership alone will not guarantee victory.

Bawumia called for immediate action to strengthen the party’s grassroots presence. He noted that the upcoming elections will require coordinated efforts across all levels of the party. The national executive elections, held recently, have resulted in the selection of new leaders for various regional and district branches.

This is the second time Bawumia has emphasized the need for unity within the NPP. In previous statements, he has stressed the importance of maintaining party cohesion amid political challenges. The 2028 election is seen as a critical moment for Ghana’s political landscape, with multiple parties vying for power.

The NPP has faced internal divisions in recent years, particularly following the 2020 presidential election. Bawumia’s remarks come as the party seeks to rebuild its strength ahead of the next electoral cycle. His focus on unity reflects a broader strategy to consolidate support ahead of the 2028 contest.
