A helicopter operated by the Kenya Forest Service crashed in Kericho, killing five senior government officials. The crash occurred on Monday, according to police reports. The victims included high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Environment and the Kenya Forest Service.

The aircraft, which was carrying officials on a routine inspection mission, crashed in a remote area of Kericho. Emergency services arrived at the scene within minutes but were unable to rescue any survivors. The Kenya Police confirmed that the crash was the result of a mechanical failure.

This incident marks the second major aviation disaster involving the Kenya Forest Service in less than a year. In 2023, a similar crash in the same region resulted in the deaths of four conservation officers. The repeated accidents have raised questions about the safety protocols and maintenance standards of the service’s aircraft. The government has announced an investigation into the cause of the crash.
