The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced that parts of the country will experience six-hour power outages beginning on November 1, 2026. The planned disruptions will affect the Greater Accra and Eastern regions, including areas such as Somanya, Baatsonaa, and Ashaiman.

The power cuts are scheduled to last from November 1 to November 5, 2026. The ECG has not provided specific reasons for the outages but has emphasized the need for maintenance and infrastructure upgrades. Residents in the affected areas have been advised to prepare for the interruptions.

This marks the first major power outage announcement by ECG in recent years. Previous outages were often unplanned and lasted for shorter periods. The current schedule suggests a more structured approach to managing the country’s energy supply. The ECG has also hinted at potential long-term changes in power distribution strategies to improve reliability.
