The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced six days of planned power outages in Accra West starting on October 18, 2026. The outages will last until October 23, affecting specific communities in the area. The scheduled power cuts will occur daily from 9 am to 5 pm.
The ECG provided a detailed list of the communities impacted by the outages. These areas include parts of Accra West such as Nsawam, Kpone, and surrounding neighborhoods. The company stated the outages are part of routine maintenance and infrastructure upgrades. No alternative power solutions were mentioned for the affected areas during the period.
Power outages in Accra have become increasingly frequent in recent years due to aging infrastructure and rising demand. The ECG has faced criticism for inconsistent service delivery, with residents often reporting prolonged blackouts. This latest schedule follows similar planned outages in other regions earlier this year. The company has not provided a timeline for when full service will resume in the affected areas.
