Denmark has officially announced that citizens from two African nations are eligible for a special short-stay rule under the Schengen Agreement. The countries named are Ghana and Nigeria. This arrangement allows passport holders from these nations to stay in the Schengen area for up to 90 days.
The decision follows a review of visa policies aimed at simplifying travel for African nationals. The special short-stay rule is part of broader efforts to enhance mobility and cooperation between the European Union and African countries. The move is expected to benefit thousands of travelers, particularly those in business, tourism, and education.
This policy change reflects Denmark’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with African nations. It aligns with EU-wide initiatives to promote travel facilitation and mutual recognition of travel documents. The new rule takes effect immediately, allowing eligible citizens to apply for the simplified stay. The decision comes after months of discussions between Danish authorities and representatives from Ghana and Nigeria.
