New Zealand has updated its Parent Resident Visa income thresholds, effective 30 April 2026. The new rules base eligibility on family size, increasing the required income for sponsoring parents. The highest threshold is set at NZD $291,200 for families with six parents.
Previously, the income requirement was a fixed amount regardless of the number of parents. The change aims to better align residency criteria with the financial needs of larger families. The new thresholds apply to applications submitted after the effective date.
This adjustment follows a broader review of immigration policies to ensure they reflect current economic conditions and family structures. The government has emphasized the importance of maintaining fair and sustainable immigration standards. The updated guidelines are part of ongoing efforts to balance immigration with economic and social considerations.
