The FBI has arrested two individuals in a crackdown on a North Korea-linked scheme involving fraudulent IT workers. The suspects, both US citizens, were detained as part of an investigation into a network that used fake identities to secure remote jobs at global companies.
Authorities seized 187 devices during the operation, which targeted US businesses through deceptive hiring practices. The scheme allegedly involved North Korean operatives posing as IT professionals to gain access to corporate systems. The FBI has not yet disclosed the exact number of companies affected or the full extent of the breach.
This operation follows increased scrutiny of state-sponsored cyber activities targeting Western firms. Previous reports indicated that North Korea has been linked to several cyberattacks aimed at financial institutions and technology companies. The FBI’s action underscores growing concerns about the use of fake employment as a method of infiltration. The suspects are currently in custody and face charges related to fraud and cybercrime.
