Sri Lanka has introduced a new visa process for citizens of Ghana, Nigeria, and three other countries. The change replaces the standard online application system with a sponsor-based approach. Travelers from these nations must now apply through a designated sponsor.
The new process requires applicants to secure a sponsor who will handle the visa application on their behalf. This applies to both short-term and long-term visas. The move comes as part of broader efforts to streamline immigration procedures.
Previously, citizens of these countries could apply for visas through an online portal. The new system aims to improve security and reduce fraud. Officials have not provided details on which three other countries are included in the policy. The change affects all travelers from the listed nations.
