The mother of a 15-year-old Ghanaian boy, Javits Frimpong, has arrived in the United States to join family members mourning his death. The teenager was killed in the Bronx, New York.
Madam Doris Adu Gyamfi, the victim’s mother, departed from Ghana for the United States. She was accompanied by officials from Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a relative. The ministry released a video showing the family praying before boarding their flight.
The incident has raised concerns about safety in the Bronx. Joseph Owusu, another Ghanaian, was found dead in the same area earlier this year. His family was visited by Ghana’s UN Mission in New York.
The death of Javits Frimpong has sparked discussions about the challenges faced by expatriates in the US. The Ghanaian community in New York is working to support the family.
This is not the first time a Ghanaian has been killed in the Bronx. In 2023, a 24-year-old caregiver, Joseph Owusu, was found dead in the area. His family was visited by the Ghanaian UN Mission.
The case highlights the ongoing concerns about safety for expatriates in the US. The Ghanaian government is continuing to support the families of its citizens abroad.
