President John Dramani Mahama has approved the recruitment of 1,200 new personnel for the National Agency for the Control of Narcotics and Other Drugs (NACOC). The move aims to enhance the agency’s capacity to operate effectively across Ghana’s districts and border areas.
In separate developments, Mahama has also emphasized the need for a new era of economic cooperation between Ghana and the United States. During a visit to New York, he urged American investors to increase their presence in Ghana, highlighting opportunities in trade, technology, and investment.
Additionally, the president has initiated a national dialogue on managing harmful online content. He has asked the Media Foundation for West Africa and the Ghana Journalists Association to lead discussions on balancing free expression with the need to curb harmful content.
The initiatives reflect Mahama’s focus on strengthening national security, economic growth, and digital governance. The government plans to finalize the NACOC expansion and outline specific measures for the online content strategy in the coming months.
