Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, the Manhyia South Member of Parliament, claimed he evaded an Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) officer after a confrontation at the Accra High Court. Awuah, who is representing detained politician Salomey Baffoe, stated he feared for his safety and therefore drove away from the court.
Awuah explained that he could not confirm the authority of the woman who attempted to arrest him. He said he was not aware of her official status and therefore chose to leave the scene. His legal team has since provided justification for his actions, citing concerns over his personal safety.
The incident has sparked discussions about the procedures followed by EOCO officers during arrests. Officials have not yet commented on the matter, but the situation highlights ongoing tensions between political figures and law enforcement in Ghana.
